Privacy

Short version: your conversations are yours, we keep them so Blunty can have a memory, we don't sell anything, and you can delete it.

What we collect

Your chat messages with Blunty, any files you attach, the personality settings you choose, and the basics tied to your account (name and email from sign-in). We also collect product-level usage signals — what features you used, what failed — so we can fix things.

Why we keep it

Blunty's whole point is memory. To remember the thread, the themes, and the version of you he was talking to last time, your conversations have to be stored. Without that, the product doesn't work.

Where your data lives

Account auth runs on Clerk. Chat content, files, and memory live on Convex (our backend). Model inference goes through OpenAI's API (text-embedding-3-small for memory embeddings, plus the configured chat model), with OpenRouter as a fallback for some models. Convex stores data encrypted at rest at the infrastructure level (cloud-provider standard). It is NOT end-to-end encrypted.

Are my chats used to train AI models?

No. OpenAI's public policy (in effect since March 2023) states that data submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI models. OpenAI retains API inputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and then deletes them. OpenRouter passes requests through to underlying providers; for any non-OpenAI fallback model the upstream provider's policy applies, and we use models with comparable no-training defaults. We do not opt your data into training. We do not have any contract that grants any provider permission to train on your conversations.

Who at Blunty can see my chats?

Be honest with yourself before you read further: this is true of basically every SaaS product. The team operating Blunty has database administrator access to the Convex backend and can technically query any row. We do not browse user conversations for entertainment or analysis. Access is used only for: fixing a bug you have reported, investigating an abuse report, or honoring a deletion request. If we are ever required to access content for legal reasons, we will tell you when legally permitted. If end-to-end encryption is a deal-breaker for you, Blunty is not the right product yet — and any product that claims otherwise without publishing a verifiable key-management protocol is lying.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data. We do not share content with advertisers. We do not run third-party analytics. We do not embed ad trackers or fingerprinting scripts. The product makes money from users, not from data.

Your data, your call

You can see what Blunty remembers about you on the Subconscious page. You can hand-edit any thread digest, regenerate a cluster overview, or delete a conversation outright. Deleting a thread removes its digest and member messages from active memory. Backups may retain deleted content for up to 30 days before being purged on rotation.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies from Clerk to keep you signed in. No third-party analytics, no ad trackers, no behavioral profiling, no fingerprinting. The site is intentionally light on this stuff.

Age

Blunty is for adults — 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the product, email us and we will remove the account and its data.

Changes to this policy

If we change something material about what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and surface the change in-product before it takes effect.
